Terry Ostlund District Governor 19-B 2008 - 2009
Lions Clubs International is the largest service organization in the world with 1.3 million members in virtually every free country in the world. Our Multiple District is comprised of nine Districts encompassing the state of Washington, Northern Idaho and British Columbia, Canada. Our District (B) has 37 Lions Clubs, 3 LEO Clubs.
The Lions' motto is "We Serve."
"We Serve" to help those less fortunate than ourselves; "We Serve" to provide extensive LEAD training - Club, District and Multiple District Officer training; "We Serve" to better ourselves through personal growth, education and involvement; "We Serve" to assist our young people to become well-rounded, bright and energetic young adults!
The Lions Organization has been in existence since June 1917 and was founded by a select business group spearheaded by Melvin Jones. It became international when Canada joined in 1920. Since 1925 when Helen Keller challenged Lions to become "...knights of the blind...." and subsequently the deaf, as she was herself both blind and deaf, we have taken up the challenge. Our charity arm, Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF) sends assistance to third world countries - assistance in education, medicine and agriculture - ideas, construction, teaching, financial aid, doctors, eyeglasses and other forms of assistance to encourage and teach peoples of these nations to become self-sufficient.
If you are interested in personal growth and
development, networking, community involvement, educational opportunities
and having a good time, then you have certainly joined the right service
organization! We will challenge and encourage you, and make
sure you are having a good time while achieving your goals. District Governor 19-B 2008 - 2009
